Q: What if I have never ridden Western before?
A: No probs, we will explain the basics and the horses will do the rest.
Q: What level of horse riding do I need to attain before coming to Stonehouse Farm?
A: We are not able to take beginner riders, but we can accommodate competent adult riders who can confidently control a horse and are able to walk, trot and canter.
Q: Do you have any riding equipment I could use if I do not have any?
A: Please bring your own Kite marked hat and heeled boots or shoes. Current acceptable hat standards are PAS015, BSEN1384 and ASTM1163.
Q: Are you qualified to lead guided rides?
A: We operate under a County Council Riding Establishment Licence and the horses are regularly inspected by a vet under this system. Richard has completed the BHS Ride Leaders course which includes an equine Health and Safety qualification. The business also runs under the auspices of the National Farmers Union.
Q: Do you provide accommodation?
A: Our web site has a page dedicated to local accommodation, any of whom are happy to be contacted by you.
Q: What time of day could I ride?
A: Any time to suit both our working patterns.
Q: Can I take my camera on horseback with me?
A: Yes, but should only be used in conjunction with the Ride Leader and we request that it is kept secure in your pocket and are sure you will understand we cannot take responsibility should any damage occur.
Q: Can I take my mobile phone on the ride with me?
A: Yes. It would need to be switched off and be secure in your pocket and again we cannot take responsibility should it get damaged.
Q: Does the weather affect if we can ride?
A: We can ride in nearly all weather conditions, but it is all outdoors so bring all-weather gear and sun-block.
